Well, hello there…Welcome to So I Pressed Post. I am your average married mom with one kiddo and another on the way, EXCEPT that I recently have been introduced to FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early). After reading numerous blogs and listen to countless podcasts, I thought, we need to get on this plan. While I don’t hate my job and I am very lucky that I don’t work much overtime, I would love to have more time to pursue my hobbies, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Getting Mr SIPP on board with the new plan.
It was a little harder for me to get Mr. SIPP on board. He really enjoys his job, but like me would enjoy more free time to work on his many projects. He just discovered Pinterest so the project list is growing quickly.
He hates budgeting and just wants to buy what he wants where every he happens to be. He isn’t into shopping for the best price, he cares more about the convenience then lowest price. Luckily, he doesn’t buy much except for materials for house projects.
To get him on board with the new FIRE plan, I picked a great podcast about FIRE with hosts that I thought he would relate too. We recently went on vacation about 3 hours away, so we had plenty of time to listen to the podcast while the little one slept. I am very happy to report that he loves the idea of FIRE and is on board with us trying to save money!
After reviewing our monthly spending in excruciating details (Mr. SIPP can attest to this), I realized the first area of spending that needed to be addressed was our monthly spending on food.
My goal is for this blog to help hold us accountable and reduce our overall spend while hopefully (fingers crossed) helping others do the same.
Hope you enjoy the journey with us on our adventures to achieve Financial Independence!
